I spoke with the NFL great on the eve of the show’s premiere to share with you the art of the pitch, the mindset of successful and to make an effort to get him to play for the best team. (Spoiler alert: It didn’t work.)
Did the theory for this show result from the fact that folks pitch you crazy ideas constantly?
Yeah, people pitch me crazy ideas irrespective of where I am. Friggin’ if I’m on trips with friends at a sporting event or dinner, I’ve people coming up if you ask me with stuff. I’m just trying to truly have a good time, man, it’s not just a good time to talk business! But I really like business. It’s in my own blood. THEREFORE I love upon this show that I reach meet these entrepreneurs personally, try their products, inquire further the tough questions and it’s all with a great, competitive edge to it. It’s super exciting.
How does Football Gronk compare to Business Gronk?
If Business Gronk was as effective as Football Gronk, I’d probably wouldn’t have even to play football! Business is in my own blood, my father started an exercise equipment business 25 years back that’s still going strong. We actually branched faraway from it and started Gronk Fitness, which sells workout accessories. My buddy runs that portion of the business. We actually had both of my brothers to pitch their businesses, that was really fun.
Do you give your brothers a break or do you go extra hard on them?
Oh man, I went extra hard for certain!

What’s the matter that you hate and the matter that you like when someone is pitching you a concept?
I hate people overselling. How this notion will probably explode and everyone will be using it. You should be realistic. I hate when someone says you’re likely to make millions in three weeks. It just sounds so unrealistic. Too good to be true. I hate that. I love realistic business ideas pitched by individuals who understand that you need to work hard for a long period to build something. I wish to hear from someone with an idea who includes a plan behind that if something fails.
Who win in a casino game of beach volleyball: your panel of experts or the crew from Shark Tank?
Definitely my panel of experts! In the event that you put these athletes against those guys, we’ll dominate.
Would you spike it in Mark Cuban’s face?
I’m sure he’s super competitive, but Personally i think like easily got setup well, got an excellent jump and an excellent follow through, anything can occur.
What does the term entrepreneur mean for you?
A entrepreneur that has a concept and the smarts to take it to another level.
In sports and running a business, is there a thing that you do to grab yourself in the proper mindset to overcome adversity?
Personally i think like everyone who has played sports at any level knows what it really is like to get together as a team with one mission at heart. Sports offer you that mindset to “take action,” that you need available world.
Do you find that a lot more guys in the locker room are considering life after football?
When you initially enter professional sports — NFL, NBA, hockey, whatever — you are feeling like you’re likely to play forever. I felt that method for sure when I started. However now that I’m in my own seventh year, going on eight next year, I definitely view it ending 1 day. I don’t know when it’s likely to be, virtually no time soon and I wish it were never. But being realistic, it will happen and I really do see myself making the effort to take into account business suggestions to set myself up for when I’m done playing. I’m not the sort of person who would like to sit around not doing anything.

So my son Henry loves you but hates the Patriots. Is it possible to suggest an excellent counselor to greatly help him cope with these conflicting emotions?
Ah man, he should just convert to a Patriots fan overall! Just do this, make life easy, he won’t be stressing over anything.
Perhaps you have had a mentor who made a siginificant difference in your daily life as a leader?
Being here within the Patriots organization has helped me end up being the man I am today. Just being around players like Brady and coaches like Josh McDaniels, Bill Belichick, Matty P. — guys like this who show what’s like to devote hard work and discover success. And, of course, the team owner Mr. Kraft who’s a only a great leader and an excellent man.
Just what exactly you’re saying is that you will definitely leave the Patriots and visit the Jets, right?
Man, in the event that you got that out of everything I simply said, that’s impressive! But we cleared that up already. You
